The Fresh Brothers Story
The Fresh Brothers story starts in Chicago with the Goldberg brothers, Adam and Scott. Scott opened the Miller Pizza Company in 1985, embracing Chicago-style pizza. With the goal of taking Chicago to the coast, brother Adam and his wife Debbie opened the first Fresh Brothers in SoCal in 2008. They combined their family recipes with fresh ingredients, putting a California twist on traditional pizza. This old-school pizza with upgraded nutrition was a hit, and Fresh Brothers only grew from there.Learn More
Why We Love Costa Mesa
Being the best pizza place in Costa Mesa isn't easy, but Fresh Brothers is proud to hold the title! When it comes to serving up fresh, delicious pies, Fresh Brothers can't think of anywhere better to do it than Costa Mesa. Just south of Los Angeles, Costa Mesa is warm, sunny, and friendly: everything we love about Southern California. It's close to the coast, but slightly inland, making it the perfect, central location for visiting all that Orange County has to offer. Because of it's near-beach location, the residents of Costa Mesa enjoy year-round, mild weather. Even during the winter, there's only a short rainy season! Expectedly, people in Costa Mesa are outdoorsy — how could you not be in a place like this? Locals enjoy the great outdoors often, taking advantage of the climate by exploring Canyon Park, Fairview Park, Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve, TeWinkle Park, Fairview Park, and the Talbert Nature Preserve. Of course, there's also Huntington State Beach and Newport Beach just a stone's throw away, both of which offer lounging cycling, swimming, and various beach sports. For community-centric activities, Costa Mesa has retail, annual events, and cultural centers. Costa Mesa's South Coast Metro area surrounds the South Coast Plaza, making for a fun day of shopping. Depending on the time of year, you can expect the Costa Mesa community to be gathering and celebrating at a seasonal fair, most notably the Orange County Fair. Additionally, Costa Mesa offers must-sees like the Pacific Amphitheater and the Segerstrom Center for the Arts.
Costa Mesa is a small city located within Orange County. It sits approximately 40 miles southeast of Los Angeles. It's bordered by neighborhoods like Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Santa Ana, and more. Close to the coast, Costa Mesa is a beachy town without oceanfront property, though it sits just mere miles from the Pacific Ocean. Because of its location, Costa Mesa experiences a relatively similar climate as the rest of the greater Los Angeles area. The town has a semi-arid climate, which includes mild temperatures year-round. Sea breezes off of the Pacific help keep Costa Mesa cool even in the hottest of months. The microclimates combined with being located along the coast give Costa Mesa its morning clouds and fog. There's rainfall during winter months, but the weather is still mild.
Costa Mesa has a turbulent history, having been occupied by a plethora of different communities. It was originally inhabited by the Gabrieleño, Tongva, Juaneño, and Luiseño nations. In the late 1700s, expeditions by Gaspar de Portolà and Junípero Serra created a greater area of the Valley of Saint Anne, later renamed to Santa Ana. Costa Mesa was originally a semi-rural farming community. Its name comes from its geographical features: being a plateau along the coast, it was named "Costa Mesa," which directly translates to "coast table." A nearby air base resulted in a population surge following World War II. The city became officially incorporated into Orange County in 1953. Now, Costa Mesa is one of the region's largest commercial clusters, and its economy includes retail, commerce, and light manufacturing.
Fresh Brothers is proud to serve this section of Orange County in a wide variety of locations. While we serve Irvine, Newport Mesa, and other neighboring areas, Costa Mesa holds a special place in the hearts of us at Fresh Brothers. Why? Because of the people, of course! Of all the things Fresh Brothers loves about this semi-coastal city, the people are what make us so happy to serve this area. Costa Mesa breaks the stereotypes associated with Orange County, and residents aren't posh. Instead, they're individualistic, trendy, and vibrant. This town appreciates "artsy" vibes, and engages frequently in high-brow art. They're outdoorsy people, and generally appreciate quick bites for their on-the-go lifestyles. Fresh Brothers loves serving healthy, fast pizza to this chic area.
If you're visiting Costa Mesa, there's plenty to see. The South Coast Plaza is known for its architecture and size, and it's the largest center for commercial activity. It's a must-see for those into shopping! Similarly, the South Coast Metro is a commercial, cultural, and residential district surrounding South Coast Plaza, and a popular spot to explore. Every year, the annual Orange County Fair is held on the fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, and there's also the Annual Scarecrow & Pumpkin Festival to check out in the fall. Because of Costa Mesa's central location, nearby sightseeing spots are all easily accessible, and both residents and visitors alike enjoy visiting the Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve, Lyon Air Museum, Noguchi Garden, Orange County Museum of Art, and more!
Fresh Brothers believes in feel-good pizza, and that means going beyond the pie. In addition to providing out neighborhoods with nutritious, all-natural pizza, we also play an active role in the community. Each year, we donate thousands of pizzas, helping to raise money for schools, veterans, and nonprofits. Serving up happiness, one slice at a time.Learn More
