The Fresh Brothers Story
The Fresh Brothers story starts in Chicago with the Goldberg brothers, Adam and Scott. Scott opened the Miller Pizza Company in 1985, embracing Chicago-style pizza. With the goal of taking Chicago to the coast, brother Adam and his wife Debbie opened the first Fresh Brothers in SoCal in 2008. They combined their family recipes with fresh ingredients, putting a California twist on traditional pizza. This old-school pizza with upgraded nutrition was a hit, and Fresh Brothers only grew from there.Learn More
Why We Love Culver City
Fresh Brothers loves serving all-natural, delicious pizza, and of all the people we love to serve, the residents of Culver City are at the top! The neighborhood of Culver City is surrounded by Los Angeles City itself, as well as a multitude of unincorporated areas. This walkable area is home to residential neighborhoods, but also contains much upscale retail and commercial space, including the ever-iconic Sony Studios. Being a few miles from the coast, Culver City experiences the typical Los Angeles mild, Mediterranean climate any time of year no matter the season. Culver City's history is rich, giving it unique flair from other Los Angeles neighborhoods with similar vibes. Its past spans from being a Civil War campsite to becoming the origin of motion picture production, taking a 180 and growing in both population and personality within a mere 60 years. Now, Culver City functions as a prime residential area accompanied by commercial spots. You can catch residents enjoying hot-spot shopping strips like Westfield Culver City mall. Additionally, residents here enjoy shopping local. Each week, Downtown Culver City hosts a farmer's market on Tuesdays, where nearby growers, producers, and eateries bring their best goods to share with the community. For spending the day in Culver City, Fresh Brothers enjoys checking out local cultural centers. Our favorites include sightseeing murals on the sides of buildings, visiting historic Helms Bakery, and touring museums. Getting outside is easy, and Culver offers the Ballona Creek and Culver Boulevard Median bike paths.
Culver City is an up-and-coming popular neighborhood located south of the West Los Angeles neighborhoods. It borders a number of Los Angeles City areas, but is unincorporated — hence its incredibly discombobulated geographical shape. Generally speaking, it can be thought of as the residential areas that fall immediately south of Venice Boulevard, and then stretches in a triangular manner into Fox Hills. It shares its home with many other unincorporated areas, including the neighborhoods of Mar Vista, Palms, Westchester, Baldwin Hills, and more. Through Culver City runs Ballona Creek, which goes northeast to southwest, which ultimately drains into the Santa Monica Bay. Like most of the surrounding Los Angeles region, Culver City experiences a Mediterranean climate. It has year-round mild weather, which can be enjoyed at Culver City's outdoor spaces like the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook.
Culver City's origins begin during the American Civil War, during which Culver City served as a campsite called Camp Latham. The camp was the first staging area for training Union troops in the Southern California area. Following the Civil War, Culver was left as mostly unclaimed property, vague residencies, and farmland until the arrival of Harry Culver. The city was established and named after its founder in 1913. Soon after in the 1920s, Culver became a prominent center for entertainment, serving as a hub for motion pictures and television production. It served as the home to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) Studios, and later, headquarters of Sony Entertainment. During the Prohibition era, speakeasies and nightclubs stayed on Washington, making Culver a new, exciting residential area.
With plenty to love in Culver City, it seems as though it'd be hard to pick a favorite — but Fresh Brothers has: the people! We've served many cities with fresh, delicious meals, but the community found in Culver City is one that truly brings a smile to our faces. Because of the iconic cultural roots, the people of Culver City are inherently artistic and diverse, especially within the realm of media and entertainment. The people of Culver City are also fun and exciting, always down to check out a new club, bar, or restaurant that's in Downtown Culver. This youthful group drives the thriving nightlife of the area, and the people of Culver City tend to appreciate upscale eateries, which Fresh Brothers is happy to provide!
There's plenty to do in Culver City for both visitors and locals alike. There's many theatres and museums, including Mayme A. Clayton Library and Museum, Wende Museum, Kirk Douglas Theatre, and The Actors' Gang experimental theatre. For getting outside, Culver City has many neighborhood parks, as well as the Ballona Creek and Culver Boulevard Median pikes paths. For a truly beautiful view, the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook is a place to check out. From the top of the hill, you're capable of viewing all of Los Angeles, from the South Bay to Los Feliz on clear days. Plus, simply walking around and exploring Culver City offers many beautiful pieces of artwork like murals, including the one on Jackson Avenue, and those at historic locations, like Helms Bakery.
Fresh Brothers believes in feel-good pizza, and that means going beyond the pie. In addition to providing out neighborhoods with nutritious, all-natural pizza, we also play an active role in the community. Each year, we donate thousands of pizzas, helping to raise money for schools, veterans, and nonprofits. Serving up happiness, one slice at a time.Learn More
