The Fresh Brothers Story
The Fresh Brothers story starts in Chicago with the Goldberg brothers, Adam and Scott. Scott opened the Miller Pizza Company in 1985, embracing Chicago-style pizza. With the goal of taking Chicago to the coast, brother Adam and his wife Debbie opened the first Fresh Brothers in SoCal in 2008. They combined their family recipes with fresh ingredients, putting a California twist on traditional pizza. This old-school pizza with upgraded nutrition was a hit, and Fresh Brothers only grew from there.Learn More
Why We Love El Segundo
Los Angeles is home to plenty of beachy cities, each with their own unique characteristics that surround a laidback shorefront. However, El Segundo is a beach town like no other, and stands out from the traditional atmosphere felt by normal coastal cities. This town is surprisingly commercial, and has a sector of the city named Smoky Hollow after the centuries-old industry. In recent years, El Segundo has been voted one of the most business-friendly cities in Los Angeles, and offers many financial benefits for brands starting up office space here. Because of its proximity to the Los Angeles airport, many aviation industries and operations are here. Among them are names you might recognize are Boeing, Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Wyle Laboratories, The Aerospace Corporation, and Aerojet Rocketdyne Holdings. In a similar vein, many popular airline offices are here, and their transient flight attendants and pilots stop in and out of the city frequently. Beyond the commercial portions is the rich, diverse, and authentic community of El Segundo. If you've seen NBC's hit TV show Parks and Recreation, you might just have an idea of what El Segundo is like. This small, community-oriented town was the inspiration for Parks and Rec, and Ron Swanson's name originates from an actual director here! To celebrate its long-standing community closeness, El Segundo offers frequent seasonal events for gathering, including things like the Harvest Festival and Candy Cane Lane. The beauty of the town has made it a popular filming spot, especially the high school.
Between west Los Angeles to the north and the South Bay beach cities to the south is El Segundo, a shorefront town located in Los Angeles County. This small and friendly town has its own sandy shoreline that overlooks the gorgeous Pacific Ocean, and residents often visit the neighboring beaches of Dockweiler, Manhattan Beach, and Hermosa Beach. While popular for its small-town feel and local businesses, this city holds a population of just 16,000. El Segundo is also known for its proximity to the Los Angeles International Airport, which sits north of the city. It even has popular lookout spots to view planes taking off! The weather is mild year-round, and the proximity to the ocean keeps it cool as sea breezes roll through.
El Segundo originated as one of the many Mexican land grants, a history reflected into its name. El Segundo translates from Spanish into "The Second." This name is derived from the oil refinery that was placed along the coast of this town, which in turn created a job industry and basis for what we now know as El Segundo. The refinery was owned by Standard Oil, and was the second refinery on the West Coast. The refinery remains, now under the name of Chevron. During World War II, the city's Douglas Aircraft Company plant manufactured a number of aircrafts. Between this and being so close to LAX, El Segundo became a popular place for aerospace companies to headquarter themselves. Then, it was quickly realized for its residential potential, and turned into developing neighborhoods.
Of course, Fresh Brothers loves El Segundo for its beachy vibes, fun attractions, and rich history. But while the small-town vibes of El Segundo are great, the only thing that makes this town better are the people who live here! Fresh Brothers loves serving up goodness to this beachside city. Everyone here is active and loves getting outside, whether it's to the beach's bike trail for a run, to the Farmers' Market to purchase fresh foods, or to one of El Segundo's many parks. In addition, this community often comes together to celebrate their home. Everyone here is proud to live in El Segundo, and many of the families here have been living in their homes for generations. This closeness is present constantly, and notably demonstrated by community events like Candy Cane Lane.
El Segundo is a fun, shoreside town to visit, and is notably family-friendly simply due to its atmosphere and walkability. Part of El Segundo's charm is the availability of outdoor spaces. There are parks around every corner, and the city sports its own beach. Plus, nearby beaches Dockweiler and Manhattan Beach offer additional attractions. No matter whether you prefer greenery or sand, getting outside is easy here. Additionally, the city offers turf fields open to the public, frequented by athletes and children on the regular. There's lots of things to tour, including the Automobile Driving Museum, El Segundo Museum of Art laboratory, the Flight Path Museum, the Chevron facility, and even El Segundo's own Blue Butterfly Preserve. This homey town also offers seasonal events year-round!
Fresh Brothers believes in feel-good pizza, and that means going beyond the pie. In addition to providing out neighborhoods with nutritious, all-natural pizza, we also play an active role in the community. Each year, we donate thousands of pizzas, helping to raise money for schools, veterans, and nonprofits. Serving up happiness, one slice at a time.Learn More
