What is Keto?
The ketogenic diet, typically called "keto," is a low-carb, high-fat diet. It requires eating less than 50 grams of carbohydrates (the amount found in approximately 3 slices of bread) every day, pushing the body to burn fat for energy. People may choose keto for a variety of reasons, from managing chronic diseases to weight loss.
Keto Pizza Crust FAQs
Why do you serve keto options?
We at Fresh Brothers know that it's hard to find pizza, let alone bread products at all, that can be suited to the macros of a keto diet. However, we've always emphasized good pizza for all, regardless of diet. Our keto crust is pizza for those on a carb-budget.
What makes the pizza keto?
A keto diet requires sub-50 grams of carbohydrates every day. Our keto crust pizza has only 6 grams, so you can indulge without going over your macronutrient counts.
What’s the difference between keto and low-carb?
Low-carb diets are a more generalized restriction on carbohydrate intake. They promote an increase in fat, protein, and vegetable intakes, which naturally leads to a decrease (50-150 grams) of carbs per day. Keto is stricter in that a max of 50 grams is allotted. Additionally, keto pushes for high fat and moderate-to-low protein, whereas low-carb can be high in protein. Keto's restrictions very specifically put the body into the metabolic state necessary to burn fat for energy instead of carbs.
Do keto options cost more?
There is a slight price difference between keto and non-keto options, but it's usually only a dollar or two. Every ingredient Fresh Brothers uses is quality, and we serve it at the best cost point we can. Unfortunately, things like low-carb crust are still slightly more expensive than their non-keto counterparts, but you can expect our prices to continue reflecting market trends as ketogenic options become more popular!
