The Fresh Brothers Story
The Fresh Brothers story starts in Chicago with the Goldberg brothers, Adam and Scott. Scott opened the Miller Pizza Company in 1985, embracing Chicago-style pizza. With the goal of taking Chicago to the coast, brother Adam and his wife Debbie opened the first Fresh Brothers in SoCal in 2008. They combined their family recipes with fresh ingredients, putting a California twist on traditional pizza. This old-school pizza with upgraded nutrition was a hit, and Fresh Brothers only grew from there.Learn More
Why We Love Newport Mesa
South of Huntington Beach and north of Laguna Niguel sits an interesting community that goes by the name of Newport Mesa. This area is not its own city, but instead the convenient location that straddles the geographical borders of Newport Beach and Costa Mesa. We're sure you're wondering how such an area comes to be, and in this case, a school district — Newport Mesa — unites the two cities into one beautiful community. Fresh Brothers loves Newport Mesa for its convenient location between Newport Beach and Costa Mesa, plus its awesome attractions. Once a semi-rural farming community, Newport Mesa is anything but now. Instead, agriculture has been replaced with heavy retail, a large services sector, and some commercial manufacturing companies. There are big shopping centers to check out, known for their size and beauty. South Coast Plaza is notable for its unique architecture and sprawling layout. The South Coast Metro is an area around the plaza, with commercial, cultural, and residential districts. There are also several notable schools in the area, including Orange Coast College, Vanguard University, National University, and Whittier Law School. Additionally, the Newport Mesa Unified School District serves an impressive 22,500 students within both Newport Beach and Costa Mesa, grades pre-K through 12, plus an adult education center. This close-knit community hosts the Orange County Fair in Costa Mesa with over 1,000,000 visitors as well as their own Annual Scarecrow & Pumpkin Festival. Close to the beach, the bay, and more, we truly do love Newport Mesa!
Newport Mesa is an area between the beautiful cities of Newport Beach and Costa Mesa, with both cities being considered a part of Orange County. Newport Beach and Costa Mesa have approximate populations of 86,000 and 113,000, respectively, giving the overall area a near perfect 200,000 people in population. Like most of California, Newport Mesa experiences a semi-arid climate. However, the combination-city also experiences some significant rainfall during colder winters. The area of Newport Mesa is along the Upper Newport Bay State Marine Conservation Area, which is within the Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve. The water eventually flows into the nearby waterways that surround Balboa Peninsula, which gives Newport Mesa its interesting topography. Newport Mesa is close to both Newport Beach and Balboa’s beaches.
As an area generally regarded as one that describes a school district, representing the intersection of two separate cities, the history of Newport Mesa is an interesting one. Newport Mesa is now a bustling area with a substantially large population, but the city was not always this way. The area actually grew from what was a semi-rural farming community, which makes sense given the fertile land and abundance of marine ecosystems. As trains increased as a method of transportation along the West Coast, the community grew both commercially and residentially alongside prominent railroads that ran through the area. Their main industry was still agricultural goods, but soon residential areas and retail began to boom. Now, Newport Mesa is mostly service-industry based with a substantial population!
Taking a single look at Newport Mesa, you'll fall in love. This city, a combination of Newport Beach and Costa Mesa, is notable for many things. The history is rich, the scenery is beautiful, and the community is bustling. However, none of these aspects would be quite the same without the best part of Newport Mesa: the people! Fresh Brothers loves serving this area because of its family-centric vibe, walkable roads, and incredible school districts. All of the residents here are happy to get outside and hang at the local beaches or parks. With attractions like the pier and amusement park, it's clear that people here know how to have fun. And of course, the community is close, celebrating their area annually at the OC Fair.
Being coastal and the crossroads of two huge communities, it comes as no surprise to us at Fresh Brothers that Newport Mesa offers so much to do. With lots of outdoor space, people here get outside often. There are 26 parks and a municipal golf course to explore and play on, and visitors and residents alike enjoy visiting the Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve and TeWinkle Park. North Star Beach and the Balboa Peninsula are just a short drive away, and these coastal spots come with attractions like a pier, park, and historical society. There's also the Pacific Amphitheater, located on the grounds of the Orange County Fair & Event Center, which hosts summer concerts among other events. And don't forget the Costa Mesa Civic Center!
Fresh Brothers believes in feel-good pizza, and that means going beyond the pie. In addition to providing out neighborhoods with nutritious, all-natural pizza, we also play an active role in the community. Each year, we donate thousands of pizzas, helping to raise money for schools, veterans, and nonprofits. Serving up happiness, one slice at a time.Learn More
