The Fresh Brothers Story
The Fresh Brothers story starts in Chicago with the Goldberg brothers, Adam and Scott. Scott opened the Miller Pizza Company in 1985, embracing Chicago-style pizza. With the goal of taking Chicago to the coast, brother Adam and his wife Debbie opened the first Fresh Brothers in SoCal in 2008. They combined their family recipes with fresh ingredients, putting a California twist on traditional pizza. This old-school pizza with upgraded nutrition was a hit, and Fresh Brothers only grew from there.Learn More
Why We Love Torrance
The popular, beachside city of Torrance is located just south of Los Angeles, nestled into the coastline of the South Bay. It sits along the Pacific Ocean, below the famous Beach Cities — a location of which gives Torrance its signature mild weather. Hot summers are kept cool by ocean breezes, and winter around here is less noticeable, simply a rainy season if anything. Torrance was originally composed of farmland, much like similar cities that were born out of Spanish land grants. The city of Torrance has certainly come a long way to become the residential area it is now, adding plenty of family-friendly areas and neighborhoods. Moreover, Torrance has worked to construct impressive commercial structures and an airport. A great example is the Del Amo Fashion Center, one of the largest malls. Torrance also has some industry that employs a portion of the large, 145,000-person population. Staying true to its earthy origins, Torrance prides itself on preserving outdoor spaces. Within Torrance, you'll find 30 city parks and over 90,000 trees planted within its geographical borders. Naturally, the community of Torrance is an outdoorsy group — and a sporty one too! In fact, the city was the birthplace of the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO), which later spread to become a nationwide organization. Residents enjoy exploring the outdoors, including the Madrona Marsh Wildlife Preserve and Nature Center, Columbia Park, and Seaside Heroes Park. Between Old Town Torrance and exceptional performing arts programs, the city is clearly invested in culture as well.
Torrance is one of California's many coastal cities located in the southern portion of the state. It sits in the southwestern portion of Los Angeles County, and falls within the boundaries of the Los Angeles Metropolitan area. While not one of the three "Beach Cities," Torrance does represent the heart of the South Bay area. Torrance is situated along an open, flat stretch of the Pacific Ocean, and sports 1.5-miles of sandy beaches. It's warm like the rest of the greater Los Angeles area, but its location gives Torrance moderate weather year-round. The climate is warm but accompanied by cooling sea breezes. Generally low humidity, Torrance has a rainy season of November through March. Within the area is an urban wetland, Madrona Marsh Nature Preserve.
Torrance was originally a homeland to the Tongva Native Americans, and later became part of the Spanish Crown's 1784 Rancho San Pedro land grant. The land grant spent the 1800s being divided up and sold amongst different soldiers, governors, and other ruling bodies before being purchased as residential territory. In the early 1900s, real estate developer Jared Sidney Torrance saw potential in designing the city as a mixed industrial-residential community. He proceeded to purchase a portion of the Spanish land grant, and the original buildings from Mr. Torrance still stand today, making up the historical district of Old Town Torrance. Torrance is now mainly residential and home to many families, with a light amount of high-tech industry. It is also a major oil producing region.
Torrance's large population of nearly 145,000 says a lot about the city. It's clearly a place to be, and the numerous attractions paired with rich culture and an ideal beachfront location support that. While there's much to love, what Fresh Brothers adores most about Torrance is the people who bring this city to life. The numerous schools in the area mean that the population is youthful, family-friendly, and family-oriented. There's a huge appreciation for the arts as well! People in Torrance tend to be cultured, whether it be playing music and creating art themselves or catching local performances. The area is big on parades and decor, having won many titles for their parade boats. Additionally, this outdoorsy group enjoys all of the parks Torrance provides.
If you're looking to keep busy, Torrance is the place to be. Torrance has the Del Amo Fashion Center, which is amongst the top five largest malls. It is possible to get lost amongst the retail and spend the day there! The Torrance Performing Arts Consortium has performances constantly as well, and visitors make a point to catch one during their trips to Torrance. You might just get to view a performance from groups like The Aerospace Players, Torrance Art Museum, the South Bay Ballet, the South Bay Conservatory, and The Torrance Symphony. Additionally, the Torrance Cultural Arts Center has events year-round. Outdoors, there's the Madrona Marsh Wildlife Preserve & Nature Center and Columbia Park. Oh, and of course, Torrance's beach offers endless fun every day!
Fresh Brothers believes in feel-good pizza, and that means going beyond the pie. In addition to providing out neighborhoods with nutritious, all-natural pizza, we also play an active role in the community. Each year, we donate thousands of pizzas, helping to raise money for schools, veterans, and nonprofits. Serving up happiness, one slice at a time.Learn More
