The Fresh Brothers Story
The Fresh Brothers story starts in Chicago with the Goldberg brothers, Adam and Scott. Scott opened the Miller Pizza Company in 1985, embracing Chicago-style pizza. With the goal of taking Chicago to the coast, brother Adam and his wife Debbie opened the first Fresh Brothers in SoCal in 2008. They combined their family recipes with fresh ingredients, putting a California twist on traditional pizza. This old-school pizza with upgraded nutrition was a hit, and Fresh Brothers only grew from there.Learn More
Why We Love Venice
Being a part of Los Angeles and so many of its surrounding areas, Fresh Brothers has seen it all and met everyone — with the exception of Venice. We love Venice Beach for a number of reasons, one of them being that there's literally no other place like it! For one, Venice Beach is a hotspot city to visit for anyone touring Los Angeles, especially if you happen to be staying on the Westside. Located along the Pacific Ocean, Venice sports its own waterways in the form of canals and is incredibly close to other aquatic attractions like the marina and conservationist wetlands. The area is a mix of residential, commercial, and recreational, and residents have access to anything they could want. Venice has a rich history, and most of the buildings in it present interesting architecture, with no one building matching another. Residents love that Venice Beach is pedestrian friendly, and they can be found outdoors enjoying local parks and the beach quite often. If it's your first time visiting, the promenade is a must-see area. It's along the beach, and features an eccentric group of artisans, performers, and merchandise sellers. There's also Abbot Kinney Boulevard, a shopping strip with a number of stores, eateries, boutiques, and art centers. 72 Market Street Oyster Bar and Grill is the historic site of the first Ace/Venice Gallery of the 1970s, an installation by famous artists. For a more casual day in Venice, there's a weekly farmers' market and the Venice Beach Recreation Center.
Venice Beach is a popular neighborhood in Los Angeles. This urban region in western Los Angeles County is part of the Westside, and contains much beachfront property. It's a thorough mix of commercial, recreational, and residential space, with its endless attractions and things to do making it a hugely popular place to live. Its borders are in part decided by bodies of water. To the west is the Pacific Ocean, and to the south is Ballona Creek, the wetlands, and a section of nature preserves. Also to the south are the marinas of Marina Del Rey, which also help section off its geography. Venice is on its famous canals, which run throughout the city and offer gondola rides. Venice also features a promenade with performers and vendors.
Like many Los Angeles territories, Venice began as a region called La Ballona, and the southern portions of the neighborhood were part of a Mexican land grant. Venice was originally founded in 1905 as a seaside resort town by a developer named Abbot Kinney, who chose the name "Venice of America" at first. Kinney and his partner purchased 2 miles of ocean-front property. Kinney drained the existing marshes, building a 1200-foot pier with an auditorium, restaurant, and dance hall. The resort town resided in part on Ocean Park, until it was given to Santa Monica. As it grew, fun architecture was put in place and additional structures were added to the pier. Venice was an independent city until 1926, when it merged with Los Angeles.
One step into Venice Beach and you'll feel a difference in the atmosphere. There's really no way to describe the people who live in Venice, but they're not like anyone else you'll find in Los Angeles in all the right ways. Fresh Brothers knows that serving this area comes with a lot of perks, including the nearby beach and fun attractions, but it's the people we adore the most. The many pedestrian-only streets and footpaths have created an outdoorsy and active culture. If there's one word to describe Venice, it would be eccentric. Everyone here seems to be creative, poetic, music-oriented, or an aspiring performer; one look down the promenade exposes visitors to all that is Venice! The diversity of Venice has made a cultured and welcoming city.
Being bored in Venice? Absolutely never! Visiting Venice is such an easy excursion because adventure often finds you, and simply stepping foot in the neighborhood lends itself to finding a swanky or funky spot to check out. The city is traditionally known for its canals, beaches, and circus-like Ocean Front Walk. Visitors can walk along canals, or take a gondolier ride through the water. The 2.5-mile promenade along the beach features performers, fortune tellers, vendors, and artists of all crafts. For something less hectic, there's Abbot Kinney Boulevard — a mile-long stretch of shops named after Venice Beach's original developer and founder. It has some of the most popular stores, restaurants, bars, and art galleries. Also frequented by locals are Muscle Beach and the Skate Dancing plaza.
Fresh Brothers believes in feel-good pizza, and that means going beyond the pie. In addition to providing out neighborhoods with nutritious, all-natural pizza, we also play an active role in the community. Each year, we donate thousands of pizzas, helping to raise money for schools, veterans, and nonprofits. Serving up happiness, one slice at a time.Learn More
